Do you have creativity?  Trinity Western University is currently looking for submissions to their first ever literary journal, [spaces]Submissions are currently being accepted in the following areas:

  • Poetry: Submit up to five poems no longer than seven pages (combined).  Each poem MUST be on separate sheets of paper.  Please, no fancy fonts. 

  • Creative Writing: (includes drama, fiction, personal essay, and short story) Submit up to two works no more than 7-8 pages in length ~ 2500 words (this means you may submit one work that is 2500 words or two works that are 1000 words and 1350 words respectively)  Submissions must be 12 pt. font and double-spaced. Please, no fancy fonts.  
     
  • Academic Writing: Submit one academic paper.  Papers should be no longer than 3000 words and must include a 100-200 word abstract at the beginning of each piece.  Papers must be 12 pt. font and double-spaced.

  • All writing should be publication-ready.  Please proofread and spellcheck your writing.

  • Photography: Submit up to five photographs in .jpg or .pdf format.  All digital photographs must have greater than 3 mega pixel resolution.  If photographs are film, you must be in possession of the negatives.  Film photographs may be submitted to Jo-Anne Morris in the Stanley Nelson Centre of the Robert N. Thompson Building.

  • Art Pieces: Submit up to three pieces of art via digital or film photograph.  See photography for guideline specifications

  • Please see below for further guidelines for submissions.

Submission Guidelines

Thank you for considering contributing to [spaces], Trinty Western University's first ever literary journal.  Here are some things to keep in mind as you prepare to submit:

Submissions must be original works never before published and not submitted to any other literary publication.

Deadline for submissions is December 6, 2006

All work must have a cover page that includes:

  • Name and Student #
  • Year of Study and Major
  • Mailbox #
  • E-mail Address
  • Title of the work

Please do not put your name or any other identification information on any portion of your piece!

You may submit work two ways:

  • Email: Work must be submitted as a Microsoft Word Document or .rtf.  No other file types will be accepted.  Please email submissions to spaces.literaryjournal@gmail.com.


  • Hard Copy: Work may be submitted to Jo-Anne Morris in The Stanley Nelson Centre of the Robert N. Thompson Building Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-4:00pm.
